Happy Orbis & GreenComp

Happy Orbis draws on the principles of GreenComp, the European sustainability competence framework developed by the European Commission. Its 12 interconnected competences cover sustainability values, understanding complex challenges, exploring possible futures and taking action. These principles inform our approach to environmental education and public engagement.

We place particular emphasis on critical thinking, understanding connections and making informed decisions. Our educational approach brings together scientific information, environmental data and community discussion to help people examine evidence, consider different perspectives and understand the consequences of everyday choices.

Our focus on oceans provides a practical starting point for exploring wider environmental questions. We encourage people to ask where information comes from, what it tells us and how it relates to their own lives.
